Here we’ve answered some of the questions we are asked most often. We hope this information is helpful, but if you have any additional questions, please do get in touch.
In short, home care or domiciliary care means professional care services provided to you in the comfort of your own home. Our Home Care page provides more information on these services, which can range from supporting you with personal care like bathing and dressing through to taking you to medical appointments – and even walking your pets!
Whether you’d just like someone to pop in once a week to help out around the house and enjoy a chat over a cuppa, or you need some help with your daily morning or night time routine, why not call us to find out how we could help?
We recognise that having any visitors in your home right now can be a worry. All our carers undergo extensive training on COVID-19 and infection prevention and control. When visiting your home, they’ll come fully equipped with the appropriate PPE. Rest assured that you’re in safe hands. For more information, please visit our COVID-19 page.
At Sirius, we care about our carers and treat them as the hardworking professionals that they are. We make sure we really look after them, so they can focus on what they do best – looking after our clients.
All Sirius carers have not just one but two rigorous interviews, and we always take at least two references. We also carry out a Disclosure and Barring Service check (previously known as a Criminal Records Bureau check). In contrast to many other providers, at Sirius we only recruit people that we would trust to look after our own family – we feel that’s the very best test we can do.
If they pass the ‘Mum test’, then they can enroll on our comprehensive induction and training scheme, which involves a combination of classroom-based training, e-learning and on-the-job shadowing. This training includes modules on Coronavirus/COVID-19 infection prevention and control, as well as the safe use and removal of PPE.
We also encourage all our carers to continue developing their skills, and we regularly review their progress with spot checks and appraisals with our Registered Care Manager.
We are proud of our team of carers but don’t just take our word for it – have a read of some of our most recent testimonials.
We provide home care, live-in and specialist care services across Hull and East Yorkshire. To find out if we can provide care in your neighbourhood, please get in touch – we’d love to hear from you.
Many of our clients start with a relatively small amount of home care, as they get to know our team and build close relationships. At Sirius, we believe good care starts with companionship but as your needs increase or decrease we can develop our support in different ways.
For more information on the cost of our home care services, please visit our Example Costs of Care page. We’re open and flexible and we’re used to working within different budgets – it’s all about creating a bespoke and individual care plan that works for you.
